Preventive Orthodontics-Space maintainers
Space maintainers
Space maintainers help “hold space” for permanent teeth. Your child may need one if he or she loses a baby tooth prematurely, before the permanent tooth is ready to erupt. If a primary tooth is lost too early, adult teeth can erupt into the empty space instead of where they should be. When more adult teeth are ready to come into the mouth, there may not be enough room for them because of the lost space. To prevent this from happening, Dr. Bardawil may recommend a space maintainer to hold open the space left by the missing tooth.

Early Orthodontic treatment - Dr.George Bardawil
When is the right age to see an orthodontist?
Choosing an orthodontist at the right time is an important decision, but how late is too late? According to the American Association of Orthodontics and the American Dental Association, children should visit the orthodontist by the age of seven. Although this seems early, orthodontists are specialists at detecting abnormal dental development. Most often, Dr. Bardawil will choose to defer treatment until much later in the child’s life, but occasionally, interceptive treatment is needed to avoid serious dental problems. As always, Dr. Bardawil is conservative with her treatment planning and provides all growth and development observation appointments at no cost.
Why is age seven the perfect time for an orthodontic visit?
As stated above, dental professionals (orthodontists and non-orthodontists, alike) recommend that the correct time to first visit the orthodontist is age seven…but why? By the time a child reaches age seven, significant dental development has already taken place. Their six year molars have erupted and dental occlusion (how teeth fit together) of permanent teeth is becoming more important. In addition, by the age of seven, children have already started the development of all permanent teeth which Dr. Bardawil examines at each appointment. This film can help Dr. Bardawil analyze the overall health of the child’s teeth.
What are the advantages of interceptive treatment?
Some of the most direct results of interceptive treatment are:- Creating room for crowded, erupting teeth
- Creating facial symmetry through influencing jaw growth
- Reducing the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth
- Preserving space for unerupted teeth
- Reducing the need for tooth removal
- Reducing treatment time with braces
Are you a candidate for orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontics is not merely for improving the aesthetics of the smile; orthodontic treatment improves bad bites (malocclusions). Malocclusions occur as a result of tooth or jaw misalignment and affect the way you smile, chew, clean your teeth or feel about your smile. Treating malocclusions does not only offer a solution to these issues, but other health issues as well. Aching backs and necks, migraines, heart problems and even certain types of blood diseases can be improved by fixing a malocclusion. Why should malocclusions be treated?
According to studies by the American Association of Orthodontists, untreated malocclusions can result in a variety of problems:- Crowded teeth are more difficult to properly brush and floss, which may contribute to tooth decay and/or gum disease.
- Protruding teeth are more susceptible to accidental chipping.
- Crossbites can result in unfavorable growth and uneven tooth wear.
- Openbites can result in tongue-thrusting habits and speech impediments.

Why should I visit an Invisalign Diamond provider?
Why Should I Visit An Invisalign Diamond Provider?
You’ve probably heard of Invisalign as an alternative to wearing traditional braces. Indeed, Invisalign offers a modern option in the correction of teeth misalignment issues. Unlike traditional orthodontic braces that consist of wires and brackets, Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners to help straighten your teeth. The aligner system has proven to be a hit with orthodontic patients both young and old. With Invisalign, patients no longer have to suffer the indignity of crooked or unevenly spaced teeth. Neither do they need to wear metal braces and put up with all the unwanted attention that comes with wearing traditional orthodontic braces.
What You Should Look For When Considering Invisalign
If you appreciate the cosmetic benefits of having straight and beautiful teeth and would like to consider Invisalign as a treatment option, where can you go from here? Well for one, it pays to look for a qualified dentist who provides the service. While not all dentists that offer orthodontic services necessarily provide the Invisalign option, you may be surprised to find many who do. Invisalign’s growing popularity has to do with its widespread word-of-mouth advertising. As more people use the system to correct the appearance and improve the health of their teeth, they become Invisalign’s most trusted although unofficial spokespersons. The comfortable treatment process, invisible aligners and fast results are the most cited reasons for its incredible success.

snoring treatment
[Native Advertisement
One way to treat excessive snoring and sleep apnea is to use dental or oral devices. These appliances are useful in correcting mild to moderate cases of obstructive sleep apnea. The good news is that these appliances are available in the office of Dr. George bardawil in Beirut,Lebanon. there are numerous options for these dental devices, and Dr. Bardawil can recommend one that suits the particular needs of the patient and fit it in the safest way.
One device that can be recommended for the sleep apnea sufferer is the mandibular advancement device. This is one of the most widely used dental appliances for the treatment of sleep apnea. It resembles a sports mouth guard in appearance and is useful in forcing the lower jaw down and forward slightly. This offers tremendous help in keeping the airway open, thereby preventing problems in breathing.
A tongue-retraining device can also be recommended to correct sleep apnea. This splint holds the tongue in the right position and works to keep the airway open. Regular dental visits are crucial because the device requires periodic adjustments or replacements.
But snoring does not signal the presence of obstructive sleep apnea all the time. There are times when the condition is triggered only by a social inconvenience. To determine whether snoring is tied to OSA, consider whether these sleep apnea symptoms are also present:

Damon® Smile: What You Should Know
Contrary to popular belief, not all braces are created equal. More importantly, not all braces look like the hulking headgear found in 1980s teen movies. If you’re embarking on an orthodontic journey, that should give you a sigh of relief. Orthodontic technology has come a long way over the years. As a result, Damon Smile braces offer a world without elastic ties. Imagine that! Here are three things that make Damon Smile braces different from conventional braces.
More Comfort and Fewer Adjustments
Damon Smile braces use light, “shape memory” titanium wires. Low-friction force guides the teeth into place, creating less discomfort for you than conventional braces. Instead of elastics, Damon Smile braces use a specialized slide that helps the archwire guide the teeth into place. The teeth move freely, quickly, and comfortably. Without traditional ties and elastics, Damon Smile braces require no tightening and fewer adjustments.
Less Treatment Time
For the most part, conventional braces are worn anywhere from 18 months to two years. However, due to its unique, elastics-free technology, treatment with Damon Smile braces is often considerably faster. If you’re starting on an orthodontic journey, then chances are that’s the type of thing you want to hear. While the amount of time a person wears braces varies from case to case, Damon braces typically get the job done faster than conventional braces.
Fewer Orthodontic Appointments
However, Damon braces offer a convenient and hassle-free orthodontic experience. Why? The self-ligating braces require no tightening and fewer adjustments, which in turn means you’re going to have far fewer visits with Dr. Bardawil during your treatment. Chances are, that’s the sort of thing that’s going to put a smile on your face.

What is the Right Time for an Orthodontist Check up
One of the most common questions orthodontists are asked is “when is the right time for a checkup for my child?” Even though most people assume orthodontic treatment should be started when their child reaches the pre-teen years, you should have your child evaluated much sooner. In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children should have an orthodontic screening by the time they reach 7 years of age. By this age, children typically have a mixture of adult and baby teeth, which makes it the ideal time for an evaluation.Benefits of Early Evaluation:
Orthodontics for kids allows the doctor to monitor your child’s teeth as they grow and age. This regularly monitoring helps prevent future problems and ensures the heath of your little one’s teeth. Other benefits of orthodontics for kids include:- Spot subtle problems with emerging teeth and jaw line while baby teeth are still present.
- Identify any potential problems with your child’s bite while the problem is still treatable.
- Early treatment helps prevent more serious health problems and can help make potential treatments later on in life less complicated.
- Achieve positive results that would not have been otherwise possible once the jaws and face stop growing.
- Early evaluation allows the doctor to choose the optimal time for treatment to begin.
- Early evaluation increases the effectiveness of the treatment.
Signs your Child’s Bite Isn’t Right:
Just because your child’s teeth look straight doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem with their bite. Unfortunately, trying to determine whether or not there is a problem can be difficult without the help of a professional. However, there are a few signs you should be on the lookout for that could that could indicate a problem:- Late or early baby teeth loss
- Breathing through their mouth
- Difficulty biting and chewing
- Misplaced, blocked-out or crowded teeth
- Thumb sucking
- Jaws are too far back or forward
- Protruding teeth
- Biting the cheek
- Biting into the roof of their mouth
- Grinding teeth
- Clenching teeth
- Lower and upper teeth not meeting or meeting in an unusual way
- Unbalanced facial appearance

Retainers
Retainers in Orthodontics
If you recently completed treatment at Our offices we’d like to congratulate you! Now that your braces have been removed, Dr. Bardawil will provide—or have provided you—with retainers. After braces are removed, teeth can shift out of position if they are not stabilized. Retainers, however, always provide that stabilization. They are designed to hold teeth in their corrected, ideal positions until the bones and gums adapt to the treatment changes. Wearing retainers exactly as instructed by Dr. Bardawil is the best insurance that the treatment improvements last for a lifetime.

Invisalign® Q&A
It’s estimated that up to four million people at any one time are wearing braces in the United States and Canada. But Dr George bardawil knows that braces have come a long way from the early days of orthodontics, so much so that these days, options are available that are not visible to onlookers. The most popular of these “invisible” braces is Invisalign. Here’s a list of FAQs regarding Invisalign:
Are they really invisible?
Yes, the clear liners are virtually invisible, so they enable patients to feel good about themselves and their appearance, while getting the orthodontic treatment they need.
Are there wires, rubber bands, and brackets with Invisalign?
Nope. Invisalign is truly an alternative to conventional braces. The treatment consists of clear liners that can easily be removed and cleaned throughout the day. There are no wires, so there’s less poking and mouth irritation compared to braces. There’s also no wire tightening at adjustment appointments, so patients don’t have to worry about a sore mouth in the days that follow in-office visits.
I’ve heard that if I get braces, I won’t be able to eat certain foods like popcorn and hard candy. Is this true with Invisalign too?
No. With Invisalign, there are no food restrictions. You simply remove your aligners when you’re eating, and replace them after you’ve finished and brushed any leftover food particles away.
Does Invisalign cost more than braces?
While overall cost varies on a patient-by-patient basis and is based largely on the level of treatment, Invisalign costs about the same as traditional braces, which makes this treatment option a truly affordable alternative.
How does brushing compare with conventional braces?
Brushing your teeth while wearing conventional braces takes some getting used to. Patients have to brush around the metal brackets and floss with a specialty tool to get into the hard-to-reach areas of the mouth. By contrast, Invisalign can be removed at any time to permit regular brushing and flossing.
Every patient is different and Invisalign might not be the best course of orthodontic treatment for everyone, but it’s an option that’s gaining more and more popularity, and it’s an orthodontic alternative that doesn’t sacrifice comfort and convenience for results. For more information, or to schedule a consultation, please give us a call at our convenient Hamra or Fanar Offices.

Orthodontist Beirut Lebanon
What’s the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist
Orthodontists and dentists both help patients improve their oral health, but in different ways. Dentistry is a broad medical specialty that deals with the teeth, gum, nerves, and jaw, while orthodontics is a specialty within dentistry that focuses on correcting bites, occlusion, and the straightness of teeth. One important difference is that all orthodontists like Dr. George Bardawil are dentists, but not all dentists are licensed orthodontists.
How are they similar?
The main similarity between a dentist and orthodontist is that they both focus on oral care. An orthodontist can work in a dental office and provide the same care as a dentist. So in this respect, they are quite similar. They are both considered doctors, and deal with the teeth and gums.
How are they different?
There are more differences than similarities. An orthodontist requires additional schooling as a dental specialty; the situation is similar to a doctor who obtains additional schooling to become a surgeon. Another difference is that orthodontists specialize in helping patients with the alignment of their teeth, improving their bite, or fitting them for corrective braces and devices. If a patient has an overbite, a dentist will refer him or her to an orthodontist.
Dentists typically encourage good oral hygiene and provide services related to:
- Tooth decay
- Root canals
- Gum disease
- Crowns
- Bridges
- Veneers
- Teeth whitening
- Misaligned teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Overbite
- Underbite
Orthodontists help with crooked teeth, but they assist patients with other issues as well. These include overbites and underbites, crossbites, spaces between teeth, overcrowding of teeth, and the treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Additional problems with the jaw also need to be treated by an orthodontist.
While a dentist may be trained to provide orthodontic care in addition to extractions, TMJ treatments, and fillings, trusting your smile to an orthodontist can better balance the different procedures you require.

Invisalign Teen®: Why Invisalign® is the best choice for teens
Those challenging teenage years are some of the most self-conscious ones of your life, and concern for your appearance definitely plays a large part. Invisalign is becoming a very popular choice for adolescent patients today, but is it the best choice?
The results from teenage Invisalign users indicate that Invisalign is both effective for teeth straightening and for satisfying that urge to avoid the dreaded “metal mouth.” Dr. George Bardawil can help you determine if Invisalign is right for you, but this article will explain why so many people are calling Invisalign the best choice for teens today.
Metal-Free Braces
Invisalign is a clear plastic device that fits directly over the teeth. There are no metal parts to mar the look of your smile, and your Invisalign aligners can straighten while allowing your pearly whites to shine through. Any teen will be the first to tell you that appearance is a top concern, so this is an excellent choice. People don’t even need to know you’re straightening your teeth with Invisalign.
Eat, Brush, and Floss Easily
Another particularly attractive aspect of Invisalign for most teenagers is the freedom it allows. While traditional metal braces can make eating, brushing, and flossing difficult, this is not the case with Invisalign. The aligners are easily removable for these activities, which gives teens the freedom they desire to live life as usual.
More Free Time
Invisalign Teen aligners need to be checked and adjusted at Our offices less frequently than traditional braces. This allows for fewer appointments, something that is really important to teens. Having your teeth straightened is no reason to forgo activities or make room in your schedule for constant office visits when you choose Invisalign

Invisalign® vs. Traditional Braces
A great smile can go a long way. Scientific research suggests that people who smile are perceived as more attractive and confident than those who don’t flash their pearly whites. When it comes time to invest in orthodontics to improve your beautiful smile, choosing the best option can be daunting. Comparing Invisalign to traditional braces is a great way to determine what orthodontics make most sense for your unique smile.
How is Invisalign different?
Unlike traditional braces, in which brackets are affixed onto each tooth and connected by wires Invisalign corrects orthodontic problems using a set of clear trays. These trays are specially formed to fit your teeth, allowing you to wear them 24/7.
Aesthetics
One of the primary advantages of Invisalign is that the clear trays are nearly invisible. Particularly for adults self-conscious about appearing professional with traditional braces, Invisalign can correct orthodontic issues without capturing the notice of others. Their nearly invisible appearance is one of the topmost reasons that orthodontic patients choose Invisalign.
Complexity of the Orthodontic Problem
Invisalign works well for people who have relatively minor problems, such as crooked teeth or small gaps between teeth. For more complex problems, particularly issues with bite or vertical problems (i.e., one tooth being significantly higher than another), traditional braces may be better at pulling teeth into alignment.
Eating and Drinking
Invisalign trays are removable, meaning that you cannot eat or drink while wearing them. Unlike traditional braces, however, you are not limited in the foods you may eat. Chewy, sticky, or hard foods may be eaten, provided that you brush your teeth before reinserting the Invisalign trays.
In the end, only you can weigh the pros and cons of Invisalign versus traditional braces. Consult with Dr. George Bardawil to understand how these orthodontic interventions may work for your unique situation.

Coming to our office is probably not on the top of your list of things do, though we do love seeing you! However, Damon braces offer a convenient and hassle-free orthodontic experience. Why? The self-ligating braces require no tightening and fewer adjustments, which in turn means you’re going to have far fewer visits with Dr.Bardawil during your treatment. Chances are, that’s the sort of thing that’s going to put a smile on your face.

After Invisalign.
After Invisalign.
You have done a lot of work to get the perfect smile. You wore your Invisalign aligner trays and cared for your teeth, and now your treatment is done. You still need to take care of your teeth to keep your beautiful smile. Keeps these things in mind when you think about your oral care routine.
Retainers
Many patients do require a retainer after Invisalign treatment. This will be based on your unique situation. If a retainer is recommended by Dr. Bardawil, use it as directed. Retainers prevent your teeth from shifting back into their original position. You should also avoid hard, crunchy foods for the first couple of weeks as your teeth adjust. For younger patients, retainers are normally used until the wisdom teeth come in or are extracted.
Brushing and Flossing
Brushing and flossing must be part of your daily oral care. Flossing helps remove the plaque, which becomes tartar or calculus. This build up can lead to gingivitis and gum disease. Your gums may be more sensitive for a week or two after your orthodontic work is completed. A warm salt water rinse may relieve discomfort.
Your teeth may be slightly sensitive for a short time. They have been protected by your Invisalign aligner trays and now are fully exposed. You might want to try a sensitive toothpaste to get through the transition. Just ask; we will be glad to recommend the best type for your needs. If your teeth are stained, a professional whitening treatment can be considered.
Regular Dental Checkups
You still need to have regular dental exams. Professional cleanings and X-rays make sure that both your teeth and gums stay healthy so you can keep your teeth for life. If cavities or other problems are found, they can be taken care of quickly.
